During the "Deep Listening Day" at the Concertgebouw in Bruges, Het Collectief puts Karel Goeyvaerts in the spotlight. This Flemish avant-garde composer gained international fame for his pioneering role in serial music but was also active in a number of alternative styles. For example, with the song cycle 'La flûte de Jade', based on ancient Chinese poems, Goeyvaerts connects with French music, including that of Darius Milhaud. The absurdist poetry of Gust Gils, on the other hand, inspired him to create some humorous, theatrical works. But we also know Goeyvaerts from the aleatoric 'Piano Quartet', in which the musicians engage in a dialogue with the news reports of the day. Finally, for his friends of the trio "Het Trio," he wrote 'Voor Harrie, Harry en René', a delightful piece of Stravinskian chamber music.
